How To Get a Free Year of Cell Phone Service

Posted 23 Jan 2009

Now that a lot of homes have moved completely away from their costly home landline, a lot of us are now trying to find ways to cut costs on our cell phone bills.

Thankfully, there is a really cool trick I use to get up to a year of free cell phone service. The trick is, to plan in advance.

Here’s what you want to do to get started.

Get a Free Year of Cell Phone Service

Once it’s time for your new contract, don’t renew through the phone or at the store with your current provider. Instead, wait until you are considered a new customer again (it’s typically about 60 days, but check with your carrier to be sure).

Now that you’re considered a new customer, you can cash in on all of the great offers for new customers.

Amazon has the best deals on phones, so head over to their cell phone department.

I chose the Blackberry Curve 8310 on AT&T for this example.

As you can see from the picture, the phone costs -$75. So Amazon pays you $75 to take the phone from them, and sign a 2 year contract. Now here’s the good part, you take this phone that you just got for -$75, and sell it on eBay.

The price for this phone is about $250 new, so minus ebay fees, and you end up with a net profit of $300. And while $300 may not be enough to cover all cell phone plans, it’s a great start, and a great way to cash in on the offers available.

Hope this can save you some money!
